Get support from a local agency

Pontypridd Foodbank partner with agencies across RCT who can provide long term support if needed to help address the issues behind the reasons for your crisis.

Below is a list of agencies who can assist you depending on your circumstances.

GENERAL SUPPORT 

  • Help through Hardship – 0344 411 1444 – National helpline
  • Glyncoch Regeneration– 01443 486496 – Glyncoch Regeneration share the voice of the people of Glyncoch and surrounding areas and work to increase well-being, opportunities and aspirations.

If you need an emergency food parcel, or you are already a client of the Foodbank, a Citizen’s Advice advisor is available at the foodbank, on Wednesday and Friday mornings.  The advisor will be able to issue a Foodbank voucher if you need it.  But they will also be able to give advice about benefits, work, housing, money and debt management,  and many other issues to help you through a crisis.  These are drop-in sessions. No appointment is necessary, but you may have to wait.

Occasionally there are too many people to be seen in the time available.  Then it may be necessary to arrange an appointment for you to be seen at another local venue.

UNIVERSAL CREDIT AND BENEFITS SUPPORT

Support for making a new claim for Universal Credit, from opening your account to receiving your first full payment.

FAMILY SUPPORT

Valleys kids Rhydyfelin project a voluntary organisation who provide emotional support to people of all ages. We provide group activities in the Rhydyfelin area to improve self esteem, confidence and reduce social isolation and loneliness.

OLDER AGE SUPPORT

Age UK help and support older people when they need it the most.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

Mind provides information and support to anyone who is affected by mental health problems.

DRUG & ALCOHOL SUPPORT

Barod’s substance misuse service in Cwm Taf, covering Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf, provides a number of different services for adults and young people who use substances.  The service also offers support to concerned others – friends and family of substance users, whether the individual is accessing treatment themselves or not.

EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT

The Salvation Army, offers personal welfare, food assistance, job searching, training, CV’s, Careers advice, benefits and budgeting support

Communities for Work+ is a support programme for residents looking to gain employment, up-skill or retrain in Rhondda Cynon Taff.

SPIRITUAL SUPPORT

The Parish is made up of a group of Anglican churches in and around Pontypridd, who worship using different formats; but possess one heartbeat. The churches within the Parish are St Catherine Pontypridd, St Luke Rhydyfelin St Luke Cilfynydd, St John Graig, ChristChurch Ynysybwl and St Gwynno Llanwynno

we’re a community of ordinary people, with different backgrounds and stories – no-one is perfect, everyone is welcome.

We are very close to the main site of University of South Wales and are the only Catholic Church easily accessible by students living in or near Treforest.

St. David’s Uniting Church is a community of Christians meeting and worshipping in Pontypridd.
