Christmas Crates

3rd November 2016

Do you work with other people and want to support Pontypridd Foodbank?

A new option for places such as offices to donate to Pontypridd Foodbank in the run up to Christmas has been developed. Christmas is a time when people often think about giving, there are presents which people share with those who are important to them. Perhaps the office is doing a secret santa, some fun sharing gifts with the others in the office, wondering who gave the gift to whom.

Could this be extended to give a gift to someone who will never know who gave it, a gift that is more valuable than the giver could know, the gift of something to eat. As most people spend money on their loved ones, some struggle to give their loved ones the basic necessity of food on the table. Presents are a luxury that just can’t be afforded.

Put a Christmas Crate in your office to collect some donations of food. A poster giving some background and a list of suitable items to donate comes with the Crate. Shopping lists are also provided so the members of the office can take one with them when they do their shopping. One or two extra tins won’t add much to the final bill but put with lots of other people doing the same and the Crate soon becomes full. Lots of Crates from different offices means those in crisis in Pontypridd won’t have to go hungry this Christmas.

There will be a special event on Wednesday 14th December from 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm when the crates can be returned to St Luke’s Church, Cardiff Rd, Rhydyfelin, CF37 5LG in return the Foodbank will offer some mince pies, mulled wine, soft drinks and a certificate for each crate returned. Alternatively crates can be returned to one of our distribution centres.
