Give Help

Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

Collections volunteer

We need help at supermarket collections two or three times a year. Giving out shopping lists to people on the way in to the supermarket, accepting donations from the shoppers, sorting them and putting them into boxes. We need help to move the boxes back to our warehouse. Supermarket collections are a great opportunity to boost our stocks, often collecting over 1,000 kg in a single day, your support could be the vital link to making the collection successful. Helping at a foodbank centre

This is the core of our operations. We need people who can offer a regular time each week / month to meet clients and give out food parcels. Have an informal chat with clients over a cup of tea, to discuss their situation and signpost to further support. Much of our food is donated when the foodbank centres are open and the volunteers receive these food donations, weigh, sort and store them. Might you be able to offer an hour most weeks.

At Pontypridd we have just appointed a Volunteer Co-ordinator who will start working with us in April.  So if you are interested in volunteering right now we may have to take your contact details and get back in touch with you once that person has started.  Hopefully that will be soon!
