Here is an introduction to our project.
Pontypridd Foodbank: Providing Support in Times of Need
Pontypridd Foodbank is dedicated to assisting individuals and families in Pontypridd and the surrounding area who are experiencing financial crises by providing them with essential food supplies.
Our Mission: Pontypridd Foodbank was established to offer short-term emergency food aid to those in crisis situations, originally started by a small team of volunteers led by Father Michael Gable and based at St Luke’s Church, Rhydyfelin, we out grew the space and with help from the local council, moved to our current home in Treforest.
What We Offer: Our food parcels are carefully curated to include a variety of essential items such as cereal, milk, fruit juice, soup, pasta, meat, fish, vegetables, and pudding, ensuring recipients have balanced and nutritious meals for a minimum of three days. The quantity of food provided is tailored to the size of the family, considering the number of adults and children.
Customized Assistance: We understand the importance of catering to individual dietary needs. Our clients are consulted regarding their basic dietary requirements, including preferences for vegetarian, gluten-free, or baby food. While we strive to accommodate these needs, please note that our parcels are prepared based on nutritional recommendations from the Trussell Trust and our current stock levels. We are unable to fulfil bespoke orders for individual clients.
Locations and Access: Pontypridd Foodbank operates through the Riverside centre. To find the centre to you, please click on the “Locations” tab above. We have a car park and have disabled access.
Additional Services: During your visit, we offer a warm cup of tea and access to additional services available at the centre you visit. These services may include:
- Signposting Assistance: Provided by our dedicated volunteers, signposting aims to connect individuals with support services to address underlying issues such as debt or specific support needs.
- Debt/General Advice: Offered by specialist workers from our partner organizations, this service provides initial guidance on issues such as debt and ongoing support when necessary.
- Fresh Bread and Vegetables: Generously donated, these items are available as supplies permit.
Your Feedback Matters: We are committed to constantly improving our services. If you have any suggestions or ideas on how we can better serve the community, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
Support Us: Pontypridd Foodbank operates without government funding and relies on the generosity of donations, both in terms of food items and financial contributions. If you are interested in supporting our cause, please visit the “Give Help” page for more details on how you can get involved.
Thank you for considering Pontypridd Foodbank. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need within our community.
